Just wanted to let you all (band and singers) know how much we enjoyed the concert in Nottingham on Bank Holiday Sunday afternoon - it was perfect - sun shining, band and singers brilliant and as ever a lovely atmosphere. We always enjoy hearing the Henley Farrell Big Band and are big fans of Keith and Craig but the young lady you had singing, Tashaka was something else - she was great. So thank you ALL very much - it was the best bank holiday I can remember. |

Saw the band at the Lion and was overwhelmed by the performance of the players and the vocalists. What a great sound you have and the great thing was you seemed to enjoy every minute of it which came over very strongly. |

Really enjoyed the Farewell to Jyll Ball concert on 7 November - it was wonderful. You had obviously worked very hard to make it such a success. Thank you so much. |

Thank you for such a splendid show last night - the musianship was the best by far.
Please tell Craig that we enjoyed his singing. It was the first time that I understood the lyrics of "Moondance"!

Being a follower of the Henley Farrell Big Band I must just mention last Saturday evening at the Bonington Theatre in Arnold. If you were not there, you missed a treat - sorry for you! The band was exceptional and excelled in their expertise in providing a varied choice of music from easy listening, jazz, to ballads. The guest artistes of Bruce Adams (trumpet) and Craig Baumber (vocal) gave the whole band a professional presentation. HFBB is going from strength to strength - keep it up! Well done. Look forward to the next concert. |

We came to Mapperley Social Club last Friday and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks for a great night. Will Craig be singing at the next event on 5th October? He was absolutely brilliant. |

Evening Post Review by Graham

Given that the interwoven worlds of jazz, swing and big band music tend to be overly male-dominated at the best of times, it was hugely refreshing to see no less than six strong and capable female instrumentalists in the line-up of this otherwise unashamedly traditional band. Featuring special guest Alan Barnes - a gifted saxophonist who is no stranger to Taliesin - and vocalist Keith Andrews, this was a real crowd-pleaser, which attracted not only the usual jazz/big band fraternity, but also a healthy proportion of younger people who were clearly thrilled by the musical delights on offer.
The programme ranged from mellow, bitter-sweet arrangements of standards, such as The Folks Who Live on the Hill, right through to upbeat numbers ranging from Alan Barnes's original composition Sidestepping through to old favourites such as Time After Time.
Keith Andrews - an experienced singer in the Frank Sinatra / Bobby Darin tradition - opted for a determinedly populist though perhaps somewhat predictable selection of swing standards and ballads ranging from Mack the Knife and Ain't That a Kick in the Head to the more reflective I've Got a Crush on You.
This was the band's debut appearance at Taliesin and hopefully it will not be their last. |

I'm not a 'natural' jazz fan and don't ordinarily listen to band music (my dad was a fanatic and I had more than my share of swing music as I grew up!) However, I was persuaded to come to Saturday's show at the Taliesin Theatre by a friend who had heard of your reputation for great swing music.
All I can say is 'thank you' for putting on a terrific show. The music was outstanding and your Band really knows its business - they really played their hearts out.
Great music, very smooth vocals and wonderful enthusiasm by all. And having the Band Members bidding goodnight to people at the door was a really nice, personal touch - keep it up!
Many thanks to you all. I wish the Henley Farrell Big Band every success for its future. |

Your concert at taliesin centre swansea was superb.
Simply blew me away. New sounds and fresh arrangements. Alan Barnes is something else. I am 80 years old and the only one that played alto sax like that was Charlie Parker. That man Barnes is fabulous in my eyes! |
